fresh

This can be the most confusing of all the terms used to describe our food on the supermarket shelf.

FRESH This item has not been frozen. It may, however, have been flash chilled for transport, so there may be ice crystals present in the food. If a meat product has been frozen and thawed, it should not be refrozen. To my knowledge, there is no set timeframe from harvest to sale denoted by this label, so, an item may be weeks old by the time you make your purchase.
