jalepeno-poppers-4719How much fun can you have playing with your food? These poppers will just make you laugh, right out loud!

  • 12 jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise, seeds and veins removed, leaving stems on
  • ¼ recipe (3 dough balls) of soft pretzel dough
  • 8 ounces cheese curds
  • egg wash
  • candy eyeballs

Preheat oven 400° F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Arrange jalapeno halves, cut side down, on paper. Bake until peppers just begin to blister and are soft. Remove from oven and let cool.

Fill each jalapeno half with cheese curds. Then, divide the pretzel dough into 24 portions (eight from each dough ball). Roll each portion into a thin rope, about 14 inches long. Beginning at one end of the jalapeno, wrap the dough around, tucking the ends in, leaving a space for the eyes. Brush with egg mixture and place on baking sheet.

Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and press the eyes into the cheese where the opening is. Serve hot.

**You may simply wrap cocktail wieners with the dough as well, then add the eyes, ‘glued’ on with a bit of cheese, after removing from the oven.
