food should be cooked with Joy!

Meals cooked with happiness and love just taste better.  Now Sizzleworks really is cooking with Joy. Meet Joy Stroh.

Chef Joy’s love of food started because her mother was a terrible cook. “I remember eating Beef Kidney’s and Brussels Sprouts, both boiled for over an hour!” Joy used her allowance money to buy fresh oranges for juice and imported olive oil. She built on these humble beginnings by reading and taking classes until she graduated at the top of her class from New York Restaurant School. She has been a featured chef at Microsoft parties, cooked healthy lunches for a K-8 private school in Seattle and managed a café for Toddlers. “By the end of the year, the kids loved edamame and came back for sliced fruit seconds.”   She brings years of tips and tricks from the professional food world into her classes.

Chef Joy just finished three years of teaching classes at Whole Foods Market in Bellevue, Washington, where her classes were always full of eager students. Joy’s style of teaching is educational, funny and dramatic, thanks to her performing background.

Joy has been involved with educational theatre since high school. She started her career as a Mime and toured the USA with The National Theatre Company’s troupe, “Mimika.”  This led to her writing and producing her own educational science shows that toured schools, libraries and museums, including a 3 month run at Philadelphia’s Franklyn Institute.  Joy worked on NBC's Saturday Night Live and is a published food writer and photographer. Her favorite review comes from Brian Larkin, Age 8: "No wonder they call you Joy, you make everybody happy."
